[REVIEW] Commleaf Rose Sleeping Mask

Good evening, darlings! I hope you all are having a fantastic Wednesday. The long weekend is upon us and I’m ready to kick back and mask away while I catch up on my favourite netflix series.

Firstly, I would like to thank Charles Kim from Commleaf for reaching out to me and giving me the opportunity to try and test out this product to it’s full potential. I received all of these products 2 months ago and got to try each and every one of them. Today, I will be reviewing the Commleaf Rose Sleeping Mask. I absolutely love sleeping masks and if you guys have not tried out sleeping masks out before, I would strongly like to suggest you to do so. Think of them as an all in one thick moisturizer enriched with nourishing and hydrating ingredients. You will wake up feeling refreshed and so will your skin!

I have used this mask twice every week since I have received it and I am so happy with the results that I had to come on my blog *for once* and share my thoughts on this lovely product.

Ingredients:

Rosa Centifolia Flower Water (75%), Butylene Glycol, Glycereth-26, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Rosa Centifolia Flower, Mirabilis Jalapa Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Trichosanthes Kirilowii Root Extract, Ipomoea Purpurea Extract, Oenothera, Biennis (Evening Primrose) Flower Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Fructan, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Betaine, Trehalose, Panthenol, Allantoin, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Adenosine, Cyanocobalamin, Tromethamine, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Water, 1,2-Hexanediol, Benzyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Raspberry Ketone

The product is also…

  1. paraben-free
  2. sulfate-free
  3. alcohol-free
  4. silicone-free

My thoughts:

I really can appreciate minimalist packaging especially for skincare because I do believe that the consumer should be able to see the ingredients and what they are using. Skincare with busy packaging can be difficult to read.

The first thing I noticed when I dispensed this mask out from the tube, was that it had a very jam-jelly like consistency and beautiful red tint to it. As you massage it into your skin, you will notice the red tint is still there but not as noticeable. It has a faint rose-herbal scent to it. I wasn’t sent a silicone brush with this mask however I used my fingers to apply this sleeping mask and it worked just fine. I would leave this mask on overnight and rinse it the following morning. I am very pleased to see that this product does not break me out nor has an unbearable strong scent to it because I can be very sensitive to scents. My skin feels plump, supple and refreshed from every use!

If you cosDNA these ingredients, all of them are in the safe side of hazard scale and there are no silicones in this product. There are a handful of sleeping masks in the market that contain some sort of silicone in them to fake the appearance of “blurred skin”. I personally don’t have any issues against silicone based products but I don’t prefer them for various reasons – they can clog the skin, be irritating and also pill on the skin.

I would like to suggest this to everyone simply because it is an all around great sleeping mask. It brightens, fights signs of aging, heals scars and counters acne.

[UPDATE] Where have you been?

*DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT A BEAUTY-RELATED POST. PLEASE CHECK MY OTHER POSTS IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THAT. THIS IS A LIFE UPDATE POST. THANK YOU & GOOD DAY*

Hello Friends! I know, I know.. I have not been as active on my blog but I can explain… So I wasn’t as clear on my Instagram as I should have been. I got laid off my previous job and I was fortunate enough to get back in my feet within minutes. I was secured a position as the exact same role and duties at another place with a higher salary. I guess some things can be a good change.

My previous company was trying to exit from the market for a while and they finally did. I started noticing few to no calls and sales so they had to do what was best for them. However that being said, I had A LOT of administrative filing, paperwork and data entry to do to restart from square one. It is exhausting but very rewarding. I promise you that I will be more active here in about 2-3 weeks or so. Things are starting to really fall back into place for me and I can finally organize my thoughts on what I can do for my blog. I have many of you to thank for providing me fantastic ideas on what topics I should cover on my blog. I absolutely love how you guys are curious of what skincare products I like or dislike, places where to shop/shop smart and etc. In my perspective, I think anyone can achieve anything they want to achieve whether it’s your social media, work, life and etc. You just got to have the proper tools to guide you. The best guide I can thank and give credit for is google. I google EVERYTHING, guys. Yes, everything. Everything I want to know… usually there will be a post, website or forum on it. Do I always go by it? absolutely not but it is amazing to connect with others online to share yours thoughts with.

For a while, I was quite embarrassed to admit that I lost my job but the more I thought about it. I didn’t lose my job because of me nor did the employees… It was just poor management lead from one thing to another. Things that are way beyond any of control. Yes, I will admit it was quite traumatizing initially but as time progressed, I started to realize how many skills and attributes I have developed from my previous jobs and most importantly now. To think, at the age of 21.. my very first job was at a grocery store. I had no experience in anything, no sense of direction where to go for job wise and somehow I was fortunate enough to land my feet on an administrative role. How cool is that? Just for anyone’s reference, I majored in arts. I didn’t find a passion in it therefore I decided to stop pursuing. It was more of a hobby for me. Sure, I have a creative mind and skill but I felt very annoyed when someone told me to draw or paint something. I would much rather do it for my own pleasure than do it for others. As selfish as it sounds, I am being very transparent on my feelings.

Anyway, if you gotten this far on my post. Thank you, I will speak to you all soon!

Colour Lux Lipsticks

Hi friends! Remember that whole hype on the colourpop lux lipsticks? They most certainly are worth the hype. The packaging, weight and texture of product, everything you can imagine in a high end lipstick! I own a few YSL lipsticks and I can assure you, the weight is almost close to a YSL lipstick. The finish and texture is exactly like a mac lipstick – long-wearing and pigmented. For $7 USD (about $9 CDN), you can’t beat the price for what you get. It’s priced like a drugstore lipstick but I can assure you these kick a lot of these drugstore brand lipsticks out the water. These lipsticks are cruelty free and vegan; no animals were harmed to formulate and make these lipsticks.

If colourpop had their own retail store in Canada, I would probably go broke from shopping from there so frequently. Considering the fact I have not made a single Sephora purchase for 2 whole months is quite shocking. I strongly doubt I will make it ROUGE status this year due to all these fantastic kbeauty releases and well, I’m just not attracted to western cosmetics as I was. Don’t get me wrong, I like both western and kbeauty products but the main reason why I’ve been gravitating towards kbeauty brands is because their fantastic packaging and affordable prices. I remember I would walk out from Sephora and bomb $200 for like 4 items. For kbeauty, I can get a whole lot of goodies with $200. I will make an in-depth post soon on where I find kbeauty products for an affordable price, where I find my cute products from and where to shop good deals!

Stay tune, frans 🙂

[REVIEW] Mediheal’s Pumpkin Ade Mask

Hey hey friends,

This is my very first mask review post! I first discovered this mask on instagram and I saw various posts on it so I wanted to try it out. I was strolling around Miniso one day and came across this one along with their lime ade one so I got a few of both to try out.

My skin type: Sensitive, combination + dehydrated and acne prone

Claims

  • Solves dry skin problems
  • Contains Hyaluronic Acid (Binds skin moisture) & Ceramide (Structuring a protective barrier for the skin)
  • Long-term use can solve any allergies caused by dry skin
  • Tightens loosen pores
  • Regulates sebum as well as provide abundance moisture
  • Tencel fabric mask ~ eco friendly fiber obtained from eucalyptus pulp with extremely soft texture and high air-permebility

Ingredients – cosDNA

  • cb6ca27e85d32ec47e818cb80c7ce300.png

PROS

  • Delicious scent, really reminds me of the Kocostar pumpkin patches mask however it smells more like pumpkin puree with vanilla than it does for pumpkin regardless it smells amazing
  • Adorable packaging – reminds me of fall time
  • Smoothens and provides a nice cooling effect on the skin
  • SURPRISINGLY did not break out from it
  • Absorbs well, after removing it the serum was more or less gone

CONS

  • Mask is on the thicker side, I prefer thinner/gel masks!
  • Very irritating, I was very itchy after I removed off the mask – the skin around my cheeks were quite red
  • Mask did not fit my face very well and it often flare out and form random openings
  • Even though it smelled fantastic, the fragrance most likely irritated my skin
  • Not enough serum inside, I personally found the sheet mask on the “drier” side. I prefer drenched, soaked in serum masks – I always take the excess product and apply it on my neck and arms
  • Leaves a slight tackiness to the skin – I don’t like feeling sticky at all.

Verdict: 1/5

1 star for the scent, HA! This mask would probably perform fine on those who don’t have sensitive skin. My skin does not like fragrance. I can get away with products with a lower dosage of fragrance (has to be in the very bottom of the ingredient list).

WHO ARE YOU?

Hello all beautiful people,

My name is Amy, I’m from Toronto, ON, CANADA. I’m outspoken, silly and expressive. I have a background is digital and visual arts and I have an addiction for makeup and eye catching flat lays.

I’m sure you’ve found my blog either through my personal social media or my public instagram “dorkification”. A couple of hours ago, I posted my best of 9 shots of 2017. I opened an instagram on June 4th, 2017 and I wasn’t expecting to do much from this account when I first made it but it started to grow rapidly as I started posting daily. Initially, I found it very difficult to find time to post simply because I would come home late from my 9-5 job and by the time I got home, sometimes I would be able to see sunlight and sometimes I wouldn’t. I depend on natural lighting the most because it’s accessible most of the time and it’s best type of lighting; I’ve played with artificial lighting and I just don’t like it as much. A lot of my photos have vibrant, pastel coloured backgrounds and I would share various adorable asian cosmetics. If you haven’t figured it out already, I’m a HUGE fan of cute packaging. Anything cute, I will mostly want or already own. My collection is kind of getting out of hand now so I do monthly declutters.

HOW I GOT INTO MAKEUP:

When I first started playing with makeup, my collection was TINY, I was a college student struggling to feed myself so all I had was a maybelline define-a-lash mascara, cover girl lash blast, wet n wild – walking on eggshells shadow trio, missha m bb cream #21 and annabell liquid eyeliner! That was it. I didn’t have a job til I was 22 so when I started making my own money, that’s when the sephora boxes started to rack up outside my front porch. At this point, I think the mail men think I’m crazy or sth. HA!! I get packages everyday or every other day.

I HAVE A PROBLEM:

Though I really enjoy buying, collecting and playing with makeup, I do struggle to save money. Now, I’m not sure if you guys are familiar with emotional eaters. I am that and also an emotional.. spender? I find myself using retail therapy to cope with pain, It sort of works but once I log onto my bank account, I’m in complete shock how low my funds are. You’d think I would keep track or expect this to happen but I don’t. You’d be surprised how quick money goes. $2 coffee here, $20 snacks there and $200 makeup.. Yeah, it’s not fun. I’ll figure it out eventually.

NO BUY:

Luckily, I’ve established that I clearly have a problem and I’ve been using up my products one by one. Feels good to use up products because I honestly haven’t really experienced that too often other than using up foundations, cleansers and eyeliner. I have never finished an eyeshadow palette in my life. Pretty sad if you ask me. My goal for 2018 is to actually USE up most of my eyeshadow palettes and ONLY repurchase the ones I care for. I’m currently in a “phase” where I’m crazy over pops of colour, which is concerning to me because I don’t wear eyeshadows everyday and most of these colours are not exactly work appropriate.
