My thoughts

Most of us already know what made me want this. The appearance of it, of course! It looks absolutely stunning and how I saw this was it was going to very much like the VDL Lumi-layer primer and it was similar but I find it pro-longed my makeup, the VDL Lumi-layer did not. I found this very comfortable to wear and although it was lightweight, it was a lot more moisturizing than I expected it to be. Not sure what “diamond powder” is exactly and if whether it’s good for long-term use, it does not sound like an ingredient that absorbs well nor can break down on the skin.

Overall

  • Texture: 4/5 – Thick serum with very fine shimmery iridescent in it. In the bottle, it appears to have small capsule sized particles but they break down and spread really nicely into the skin. It dries to a glowy finish, I don’t find it sticky or tacky but more rather like a really nourishing facial serum/oil feel. I’m actually very surprised that this kind of consistency can prolong makeup wear and also acts as a fantastic primer.
  • Scent: 5/5 – I personally don’t smell anything when using this if anything – it has a super, super faint silicone scent to it.
  • Performance: 5/5 – Works like a charm, definitely worth the hype and nice. Do you need this in your collection? That’s really up to you, I personally see myself repurchasing this because it worked for me and I quite like it.
  • Packaging: 4/5 – It’s cute! I have no complaints about it. However, I would love to see expand into a line, I think it would be successful. Maybe making like a glowy makeup essence, cream and etc.
  • Overall: 4.5/5 – I liked it! I think makeup users who enjoy that glossier model, glow, the dewy look will appreciate this kind of product very much. I found this perform a lot better than any western primer I’ve tried in the past. Those silicone-based primers don’t do anything for me so it’s nice that LANEIGE released something that gives the skin that glass skin type of appearance.

[REVIEW] GLOSSIER CLOUD PAINTS

I’m sure everyone has heard of this brand at one point in their beauty journey. Glossier is known for its minimalist and natural makeup. Their skincare products never really intrigued me however their beauty products such as the wowder, balm dot coms and last but not least… their cloud paints! I only own 4 of them and I must say, I think I made some fantastic choices.

The shades I own are:

Storm – red, brick plum shade ~ this my HG, it makes my cheeks look flushed and radiant. Be very careful with this one, I would apply thin layers of this because it’s extremely pigmented and can quickly give you that clown-like appearance. I think this shade would be best for fall-winter. Maybe even spring.
Haze – cool tone magenta ~ out of all of them, I find this one the most difficult to use. I have fair-light skin so I would have to apply really SMALL amounts of this at a time to blend into my skin. It’s really dark and I find this would be best on deeper skin tones.
Beam – light coral ~ I think it’s safe to say that this is my 3rd favourite and it’s definitely perfect for spring and summer.
Puff – cool tone baby pink ~ this is my 2nd favourite out of the 4 I own and it gives me that innocent, youthful appearance.

Overall:

  • Texture: 5/5 – It’s a unique gel-like consistency and spreads really nicely into the skin.
  • Scent: 5/5 – No scent to it, which is fantastic because we all know fragrance is quite unnecessary in makeup and skincare products. They add no beneficial value or factor to the product.
  • Price: 2/5 – There is a VERY small amount of product in these little tubes however you really only need a dot size amount on each cheek. It really depends on how you see this is. Personally, I find it a bit expensive for what it is. My canmake cheek and lip creams are $10 less than this and work just the same. In fact, I think they’re pretty close dupes to the cloud paints however the cloud paints have more unique and “natural” skin like blush tones.
  • Performance: 5/5 – Long lasting, lasts throughout the day and does not disappear. Be very careful when applying this and do not press too hard on the tube to get too much product out. In addition, be sure to screw on the lid tightly after use because this stuff dries up real fast if you don’t.
  • Packaging: 3/5 –Practical, easy to travel with. I’m not quite sure how difficult it is to get the product when you’re close to the end of the tube, but I’m sure it’s not different than any other tube-based packaging. I’m sure we all are familiar with how annoying it is to squeeze the remaining toothpaste out from the tube, hopefully, it won’t be that way.
  • Overall: 4/5 – I love cloud paints, regardless of the fact that they are so pricey. I have worn mine every single day since I’ve gotten them (3 months ago) and I still have more than half the product left; goes to show you that never underestimate a product because it appears to be little or small.

[REVIEW] LANEIGE BB CUSHION WHITENING

Good morning, dear friends! I hope you’re having a fantastic week so far. This week’s item I will be reviewing is a bit different from what I usually review. This is a cushion compact by the brand Laneige. This product was kindly gifted to me through Meibe Korea in exchange for a review. Meibe Korea has a fantastic range of products to choose from both skincare and beauty. They also include the cutest freebies in their packages.

Cushion Available on: Amazon|Meibe Korea (US)|Ebay

Refill: Yesstyle

What is a cushion compact?

Cushion compacts are basically foundation mixed with various essences, serums, and even SPF to form and a multi-functional face product that serves multiple purposes. You get your sun protection, a bit of skincare and coverage in a compact form. Once you are finished with the product, you just purchase a refill. I know some brands do not offer refills, which means you have to repurchase a whole entire new cushion to replace it. K-Beauty normally does offer refills for their cushions.

Ingredients

The ingredients may vary by the shade colour so I’m only just referencing off the one I own, which is shade #21.

WATER / AQUA / EAU, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, ZINC OXIDE (NANO), ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), PEG-10 DIMETHICONE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE (NANO), CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, PHENYL TRIMETHICONE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL DICAPRYLATE/DICAPRATE, NIACINAMIDE, LAURYL PEG-9 POLYDIMETHYLSILOXYETHYL DIMETHICONE, ACRYLATES/ETHYLHEXYL ACRYLATE/DIMETHICONE METHACRYLATE COPOLYMER, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF EXTRACT, DIMETHICONE, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, DISODIUM EDTA, DISTEARDIMONIUM HECTORITE, MAGNESIUM SULFATE, MICA, MANGANESE SULFATE, METHYL METHACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, SODIUM CHLORIDE, STEARIC ACID, SILICA, ASCORBYL GLUCOSIDE, ACRYLATES/STEARYL ACRYLATE/DIMETHICONE METHACRYLATE COPOLYMER, ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE, HDI/TRIMETHYLOL HEXYLLACTONE CROSSPOLYMER, IRON OXIDES (CI 77491), ZINC SULFATE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, CALCIUM CHLORIDE, CHENOPODIUM QUINOA SEED EXTRACT, TRIMETHYLSILOXYSILICATE, TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, PHENOXYETHANOL, POLYSORBATE 80, POLYPROPYLSILSESQUIOXANE, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, FRAGRANCE / PARFUM, IRON OXIDES (CI 77492), YEAST EXTRACT / FAEX / EXTRAIT DE LEVURE, IRON OXIDES (CI 77499)

Shade Range:

Now before you complain about the limited shade range, this seems to be quite common in Korea where they tend to only offer 2-3 shades and that’s because it’s marketed for Korean people in Korea. I really appreciate Laneige for putting the extra effort and are gradually expanding on their shade range. This particular Whitening cushion line has a total of 12 shades; the lightest shade is No. 11 Porcelain and the darkest is No. 37 Cacao. In comparison to western beauty foundations, a 12 shade range is obviously little but it is a start especially for a Korean brand. If you compared this range to other K-Beauty brands, you would agree with me.

Overall:

  • Texture: 5/5 – Easily glides on the skin, does not cling onto dry patches or emphasize texture on the skin. It looks extremely natural and gives you the appropriate coverage and a glowy appearance to the skin. The coverage is between a medium to almost full coverage; I do like how you are able to control the amount you apply on your face.
  • Scent: 5/5 – There isn’t a noticeable scent for this, on the ingredient list it says that there is some fragrance but the dosage is relatively low because it is featured on the lower section of ingredients.
  • Price: 4/5 – I think the price is fair for what you are getting, very standard cushion pact pricing and it will always vary where you purchase this product from. There’s a lot of stores that sell Laneige products so the chances of you seeing this are quite high.
  • Performance: 5/5 – The two notable ingredients I noticed that were in this cushion was green tea extract and also niacinamide, both are fantastic ingredients that serve different purposes. They’re able to soothe the skin and also brighten the overall appearance. I love the results I get from using this cushion because it gives the skin a really beautiful appearance to it without looking overdone/cakey. It looks and acts like a 2nd layer skin and leaves you looking so luminous. The longevity of this cushion is good and lasts me between 6 ~ 8 hours; be sure to pack a powder pact in case you need to blot.
  • Packaging: 5/5 – It’s pretty looking! Simple and has a fun rainbow cover to it. The cushion pattern is neat and applies well on the puff. The puff is one of the better puffs I’ve tried. You can also use a makeup sponge such a beauty blender.
  • Overall: 5/5 – I would repurchase this and I would recommend anyone to give this a go. Back when I was using foundation, I didn’t know the purpose of cushion pacts because they just seemed so gimmicky, waste of product and no value to them but boy, I was terribly wrong. There’s just something about cushion pacts being able to allow you to achieve that “my skin but better” type of look. A lot of foundations tend to make the face look so flat and that’s why a lot of people seem to like to follow up with contour. For cushions, I don’t really feel like I need to contour or even highlight (wow, who is she?). If you’ve been following me long enough, you would know that I absolutely am obsessed with highlighters and my collection of highlighters is kind of ridiculous but I’m proud of it!
